Firstly we had to learn all about geography and the cultures of some Pacific Islands. We were lucky enough to have Jerome, who is from Samoa, to teach us about Samoa. We did some research into our questions and reported back to the pod.
Harley from World Vision visited us and told us a story about a man called Timothy and his shrinking island. Ask your child to tell you about it. It started us thinking about how we can help the Pacific.
Lovely Lia, who works in our school after the children have gone home, taught us about the tapa or siapo cloths. Have a look at our art work trying to replicate Toke La'u Feletoa. We are in the process of starting to design our prints to do some ink and roller images soon.
Coleta, Jerome's mum, came and talked to us about life in Samoa, and what it was like to settle in New Zealand. She taught us a sasa about harvest a coconut. Check out our smooth moves in our video.
